A weekly West Coast Swing* dance class and social in San Jose. Classes are always high-quality masks required, social dancing (in a larger more ventilated space, CO2 levels monitored and low) changes mask policy based on current wastewater levels but always has a period of the dance that is masked. The teaching is excellent, the community is super cool, and the space is amazing!

WCS Building Blocks (Level 2)

For those who have attended at least one “Welcome to WCS” or an introductory course at another studio/event.
Dancers should be comfortable dancing Left Side Pass, Under Arm Pass, and Sugar Push.
This class will cover basic WCS patterns and techniques – specifically those needed for the following Creative Expression class!

8:15-9:00 pm
Creative Expression (Level 3)

For those who are proficient with West Coast Swing basics, or who have attended the WCS Building Blocks class immediately prior. This class will involve higher level patterns, techniques and styling.

8:45-9:30 pm
Welcome to WCS (Level 1/First Timer)

For those who are brand new to West Coast Swing – During the social dance, volunteers from the community will teach the basic rhythms and connections of West Coast Swing, as well as a few of our basic patterns.

9:00-9:15 pm
Social Dancing in the Spotlight Ballroom

9:15 pm – Change Locations! Switch to Royal Ballroom

DYOS’s health policy is aimed at mitigating the spread of Covid-19
and reducing the severity of breakthrough infections.
--> Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required.
An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the completion of a primary vaccine series.
--> High Filtration Mask (KN95, N95, or KF94 with no exhaust port) MAY be required, depending on prevalence of COVID-19 in Santa Clara County. Policy is announced every Tuesday (approx. 48 hours before each event).
