Katrina (they/them), owner of Katrina Dreamer Tutoring, has worked as a private tutor and educator for more than 20 years. Their passion is helping students feel more confident and calm about school. Katrina’s tutoring style includes a combination of social-emotional techniques and practical tools that students can incorporate into their lives. They have a five-star rating on Google and many happy clients.

Katrina's area of expertise is working with learning disabled students, especially dyslexic and dysgraphic students, and they have taught more than 1,000 hours of instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach. They are Orton-Gillingham trained at the Academy Associate Level, working under the mentorship of a fellow. Katrina is a member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and the International Dyslexia Association. Students often start lessons claiming they hate to read, and after working with Katrina they begin asking their parents to check out library books or take trips to the book store.

In addition to tutoring dyslexic students, Katrina is also an academic coach for students with ADHD and executive function gaps. They have helped many students develop better time management, organization, and study skills. Writing instruction is another area of support they provide, and they've helped reluctant writers become confident with crafting paragraphs and essays.

Katrina's instruction happens entirely online, and they've been tutoring online for nearly 10 years. During the beginning of the pandemic, they moved their business solely online, and they plan to continue seeing students this way. As a chronically ill person at high risk for Covid, they are still shielding and understand the challenges that students and families who are high risk face.

As a queer nonbinary person, Katrina loves working with students and families in the LGBTQIA2S community, and as a neurodivergent person, they have a particular knack for connecting with neurodivergent students.
